Halloween!

Hey there hope your week went well, mine went pretty good. Spent heaps of time out knocking doors and listening to people say that they wouldn't be baptized if they came to a knowledge of what we share is true. Glad to really go hard this week; heaps of it was just the fact that no effort is wasted as it states in PMG ch. 9 in the last point. We need to help people make a clear choice and that comes from the baptism invitation. Also on the side we had an investigator come to church on Sunday and he accepted the invitation to be baptized on the 30th! Excited as for that date to come around, unfortunately I may be shifting because the transfer date is on the 24th, but I may not be shifting and instead finish my training with Elder Fitzsimmons! Not sure which one it will be but that is ages away.

Over the week we met with a few of our investigators and had lessons on the Book of Mormon as was expressed to us during the Zone Training by the Assistants and the Zone Leaders. With that in mind we went hard out trying to use the Book of Mormon as our main resource in our teachings. It went great as well, heaps of opportunities to hand out a book. Also you should be wearing socks during studies in the mornings, didn't know that one and I got a small growling from the Zone Leaders over that. No worries though, I now wear socks during my studies.

Had a fantastic Halloween, although they don't really do anything for it. It started at midnight the morning of Halloween with this big drunk Maori who is our flat neighbor trying to break into the flat. I was scared as and also the only one awake because Elder Fitzsimmons slept through the entire thing. He was going around from the front entrance to the back door and then tried to come in through the window, had to grab it back from him and seal it shut, and he was just cursing us out the entire time. Terrible what happens to people when they drink, so glad that we have the Word of Wisdom to guide us and keep us out of situations like that. This was all going on from about midnight to 4:00 in the morning and I was wide awake the entire time, just holding on to this cattle poker and trying not to be too scared. For some reason it never occurred to ring the police or even my leaders in the zone, got a growling for that as well (I seem to get heaps of growlings this transfer), but no worries he ended up getting picked up by the cops around 8:00.

Also this Sabbath day we as a mission participated in a fast to find the "elect" (D&C 29:7), and then on Monday morning we met as a Zone, had a testimony meeting, and had a zone prayer to ask for blessings upon our area to help us find the elect that God has prepared for us. It was a very powerful experience and the Sun is shining upon us. I am excited to get back to work and find the elect of God.

Christ has suffered to place us where we are and expects greatness from us because that is what we are to accomplish. We were held back 6,000 years for a reason, so go out and be the expedience that the Lord has helped us become. (D&C 100:4)

Kakiteano,
Elder Long
