Hello there everyone, hope your week is going great! Mine is going fairly well, just introducing my new companion to the area and a few of the members that we work with. My new companion is Elder Ranaivosoa from Madagascar! He speaks Malgasy and French and very little English, so these past few days have been very exciting and full of new experiences.
The week was with a push for bring members to lessons with us, but it only worked out for 13 lessons with members. Which is below the standard now by 7 lessons, because the new 2014 mission standards of excellence are to have 30 lessons with 20 member presents, so that will be a new challenge to work towards.
Also when I was reversing the car when I first picked up my companion I ran over the bump and the car really struggled with it when I was pushing the trailer. But luckily the car was able to overcome this bump in the road, unfortunately when I moved past the bump with the front of the car I noticed that I had run over my pack with all of my stuff in it. The scriptures or good, but the camera and my USB was a bit smashed and cracked, still work but the screen on the camera no longer works, I can just take pictures with it. So pretty fun, that will be a good new experience.
Also this week we had a good number of people come to church. 6 people at church and one of them was C.! C. is the dad of T. and he has seemed partly interested in coming to church but never committed to church or anything. On Sunday though he walked to church because he thought that we were going to come by and pick him up. Which we didn't know about, so we kinda dropped the ball with it, but he came and it all worked out great!
The special thing with C. coming to church is that he was the only one who came to church that we were working, everyone else are new investigators, which is nice but it was a little disappointing that no one else was able to come. And it was an answer to my fast that day that someone came to church, especially with that sort of desire to walk the distance to church. It touched my heart and I am ready and excited to work the rest of this week to bring him closer to baptism and continuing progression in the church.
Love,
Elder Long
