Zone Split

Well this week has been exciting. My Zone has split and that means 2wo districts! The new Elders in the District are Elder McKeuon from England and Elder Mera from Tonga. So lots, of changes are going on out here, but Dargaville is still holding strong. . . Although we have someone who wants to be baptized!!! Hooray! With hope we can work things out so that he can be baptized in October! Also, work with Zsdarna is finally going somewhere, we have had some very good visits with her and she may be really ready to listen to the message. That would be great, if she decides to listen.
Another fun-fact about this week is that on Sunday I gave a talk. Neh, I don't really think that it went too well, but I gave it on a message from the February Ensign by Elder Cecil O Samuelson Jr. This talk was labeled "Stand by my servant Joseph". So I gave something along those lines of standing by Joseph Smith, Jun, and what it means to me. He really does mean heaps to me. Amazing really, that that Book of Mormon you hold cost the blood of a man who is the greatest prophet and man to walk this Earth behind Jesus Christ. How precious should that book be to us. Do we just toss them somewhere, or set them on the ground where they can be kicked? For me it has really helped to realized just how much I should, and am coming to, treasure this book. That book contains the plainness of the gospel; the testimony of the Atonement and Christ's mission on the Earth; it brings a smile to my face when I think the kind of love he must have had for me to know that his mission would eventually cost his life, but he kept on. I am truly grateful for that I will be loyal to this man, a truly valiant spirit from the Pre-Earth life.
Not really too sure what to say from here on out, the weeks seem to be slowing down a bit and it is spring now!! Which meant that this week was five days of rain and two days of sunny-ish weather. The rain out here just seems to always be spitting not to hard but very consistent. I have driven more on the left side of the road and am becoming quite comfortable with it, not sure if that is a good thing or not.
I guess I feel like I have to share something spiritual with how I have grown and something to say that will really help anyone that is reading these pieces that I write. I guess I can talk a short bit on that "We Are Free". That is a talk my companion gave on Sunday, and he was not feeling to great about his talk, but he did mention some very good points. Now as man, we have been blessed with agency which is the ability to choose freedom or the ability to choose captivity. That was something that we gained from the Fall, the ability to choose joy. Joined in with the Fall is that we were then bound by Spiritual death (cut off from God) and Physical Death. The Saviour comes in here, with his beautiful and infinite Atonement, he overcame and loosed the bonds of Spiritual death and Physical death. Now he did that for each and every one of us because we choose this plan that he worked out with the Father and he loves us. Part of this plan was that we would remain free at all times, especially for those of us in the fullness of times. Now as sons and daughters of God to be here in the fullness of times means that we would accept a greater responsibility to labour in the vineyard and work our hardest to always be on the straight and narrow path. Nevertheless, we are free. We are free to say that we will not accept this gospel; free to choose the captivity of our spirits by yielding them to the devil by way of foolishness and pride of our hearts. We are free to choose that path, "For this eternal truth is giv'n: that God will force no man to heav'n" (Hymn 240). Yet we are free to choose to live in the world and not of the world, to overcome the sins that we may have committed in the pre-earth life and those on this life and work our way back home. Free to choose eternal life, although this choice is  one of the hardest and most difficult to make, the valley of the path you walk on is low, the mountain is steep but eternity is in sight, the river is wide but it is not deep. We are free, brothers and sisters. I have chosen to be free and live with God, and I hope that you all will do the same. You have all of the tools necessary to return and take this path, the only question is if you will hearken to the voice that whispers to the soul "Come, Follow Me"
Have a fantastic week, be witnesses of Christ at all times, in all places, in all things.
Arohanui,
Elder Long
